Water damage

Homing in a state where heavy rains, tornadoes and hurricanes are inevitable is not a stress-free living. You have to worry about these as early as March til November and even December.

A couple years ago, our chimney gave up to the strong wind of Hurricane Gustav. It was wiggling with broken parts that caused water leaks in the ceilings. We had to hire someone to repair the chimney including the a portion of the ceilings.

Now, if you happen to reside in the Southern part of the United States (by the gulf) especially in Texas, I believe we are sailing in the same boat. And if water strikes in the inner of you house with the aftermath of water damage to ceiling austin and even the harsh water damage to carpet austin which for sure would result to molds and stinking air, don't hesitate to call the right people to repair the damages. Ask for the estimate water damage repair costs austin right away!

Not the time for disability check

A friend's husband was involved in an accident and injured too much of his knee. It's been years and til now, he's still in prescription medicine. Once he told her wife (my friend, a Filipina too) that he wants to quit working and would just file for disability support or apply for SSDI and would just reside in the Philippines where his check would be a lot more in value. The wife, of course, stopped him from doing so because he ain't that disabled. In fact he still can walk and do a lot of stuff. It's just the right knee that hurts often. The husband listened to his wife and now he is in a nursing school and at the same time works overnight with us.

Young teens smoke cigars

I see a lot of cigarette smokers here in America. Even teens as young as twelve years old smoke Black and Mild cigars just for the hell of fitting into peers. I saw that right into my very own eyes and parents would just let their kids do such an adult stuff. Obviously, those kids lack parental guidance and discipline.

As to my child, she will never see me nor her father smoke and drink. That's one values that we want to instill in her, not to engage herself in any vices. Hopefully, she'll value that and would grow not close to smoking, drinking and gambling.

Fitness equipments

Since the start of new year, the husband started focusing on weight lifting as part of his weight loss program. He owns a set of dumb bells, pull up bar and treadmill to aid him in reaching his goal. Looking good is not the only reason why his doing this. It is for health purposes as well. He wants to live longer for his kid and to set an example as well. Good health is basically the start of everything, that's what he believes in. Insecurities gone. Boost self-esteem. Role model not only to his kid but to his fellow officers.

Humidifier this spring season

Lately that I knew that humidifier can soothe one's congestion due to stuffy nose. Thanks to a dear friend of mine for sharing the recommendations of her son's pediatrician. I have been having my humidifier for three long years but didn't use it that much. Now, it is being torn every night just for the lil one til she feels a lot better or til her allergy has done it's course. Since it is, changing the filter is needed as well. After work, I shall be taking care of such.

Do you have allergies due to season change? Try using humidifier at night and you will be soothed like a baby.

Almost done with house-makeover

My home improvement projects are really coming into reality. So far, I have accomplished a lot and I am loving my house. Currently, I am trying to turn the bathroom into haven. Done painting and installing new hardwares. Within this week, I will make sure to finish everything including the installation of new light fixtures.

Afterwhich, installing the new hardwood floors in the master's bedroom comes next. Then again, put the room together including buying new mattresses (one for the master's bedroom and one for the lil one's room though she ain't using it because she sleeps in our bed), new television set and decors.

A lot of work but it's worth it.

Finally found true friends around

It's easy to make friends but finding true friends is like searching for the tiniest needle in the ground. In my four years of living American, I have come to meet and make friends with a lot of people, be it American or Filipino. Yes, it took me awhile to hold new friends, true friends around.

The persons on the photo are my real friends here. On the very first day of our meeting, I knew right there that I will share friendship with them. True enough, the three of them felt the same way. It's been four long months and we are still standing by each other. Sharing laughters, tears and stories. Our group (well, not really a group because we never badged ourselves with one) is becoming the talk of the Filipino community in the area. I dunno what the problem is. We are just enjoying each other's company, the company that we never felt from them.

On the other note, this has become my very first personal post for this year. I am as busy as a bee  since I started working and can't create a much longer story for ya'll. I will be coming back sharing my best memories about my silly girl friends.

Renewal time

Pretty soon, the husband is going to renew out auto insurance. It is expiring next month. Early renewal is best to avoid procrastinating and penalties from the authorities.Time flies so fast. Before, it was just the hubby who's covered, seven months ago since I started driving, he added me in the auto insurance. From then on, I solely drive the car as he got his own.

Just wondering if the gas price which is so high this time would affect the insurance rate. Any idea about this? I just hope not because it is gonna tear off the husband's wallet again.

Ergonomic kneeling chair

Last night was a hell at work. There were just too much to be done and the work time was not enough. It wouldn't be that bad if enough people or employees came in, but not. I would say that last night was one of my nightmares at work.

I am not carrying my own chair, but I am very efficient when it comes to my job. I give my best religiously, thus, leaving a smooth footprints in the morning. The only bad thing about me being fast is that the pain I feel in my knees everytime I kneel down. I told my in-law about my condition and she offered to lend me her ergonomic kneeling chair. She said I could bring it at work. Sounds like a big idea but she is using it. I might just get me one sometime.

Handywoman

It is uncommon for women to be seen working in building and construction especially in my home country where men are expected to do the heavy stuff. Here in America, I saw a lot of women involved in construction or doing the men's job. You may not believe it or not but in my household, it's me who does the things that is supposed to the husband's job. I am the handyman or shall I say handywoman. I love working with my hands, constructing or repairing anything in the house. In fact, I have been buying my own tools such as band saw blades, drill and more.

Sometimes, I get so mad of my husband for not being a help, for not doing his job as a man but everytime I watch him do it, I can't help myself but pissed off because he ain't doing it right. Thus, I'd grab the task and would rather do it myself.
