The Dark Sky Festival

Are you familiar with the Dark Sky Festival? Or have you witness this event in the past? I'm sure you do and you're getting more excited as the day comes.

In case you are not familiar or you don't have any idea of what Dark Sky Festival is, lem'me share some infos with you. This year will be the 5th Annual Dark Sky Festival and is scheduled Saturday, April 5, 2008 and will kick off at 7pm in Harmony's Town Square. This is a huge event for everybody from locals to tourists.

The said festival is created to celebrate and promote the benefits of a night-sky free from the effects of excessive artificial lighting.

As what has been happening from the past festivals, you will enjoy viewing the night skies through a variety of telescopes. Food will be served while enjoying the music. There will be numerous specialty booths that you can stop by. For aspiring or dreaming to be astronomers and other scientist, this is the time for your because you will be able to meet our famous astronomers and scientist. Kids will enjoy playing in the Cosmic Kids Zone plus with a speaker talking about Myths in the Night, speakers educating about light pollution. There will be so much activities set for this festival.RARE EARTH will perform a special concert as part of the celebration.

The 5th Annual Dark Sky Festival is the start of the National Dark Sky Week which aims to educate the public about lighting fixtures that help reduce light pollution by focusing light downward instead of up into the sky. The use of the natural light is very much encouraged to deter light pollution.

For everybody whose interested, you are all welcome to celebrate the 5th Annual Dark Sky Festival. It's free and open to the general public.
