AOS update

Just got the interview notice from the USCIS today. We filed last July 07 and we'll be interviewed this Feb 2008. Seven months on the waiting. Wow! that long? It's like we filed for K-1 visa. I thought it would only take 4-5 months to process.

Nevertheless, I'm still glad that we have the interview date. We're really blessed -- a baby and this. Thanks God!

my dream car

Is car a need or not? Well, for me it is. It's a need! Maybe, if I am still in the Philippines I would really say that it's not and it's just a luxury but a lot of things havechanged. Here, I will be needing it as much as wanting it.

Beetle or volkswagen has been a dream of mine since the first tome I laid my eyes on it. I've been wanting to own one even though the style is outdated. In the Philippines we call it "Bao" as It's funny coz I used to hit a friend's forehead everytime I see one on the road but it didn't stop me to continue dreaming. My heart frowns when I see those gorgeous cars showing off me.

I saw a gorgeous one on the road one time. THe color is yellow and the model is so different from what I've seen in the Philippines. That made me fall even more.

Few years from now, I feel that I will be owning one and can't wait for it. Hope it won't take that long.....hayy yayay...dream...dream...dream!

A meal of sinigang with rice

mmn...yum yum...had a blast earlier!

whew! at last, after a very long time, my tongue finally tasted the sourness of sinigang again. I had two plates of rice tonight which is very unsual for me. I normally eat just a little bitty but tonight is the night hehe. Who could resist this dish?

I added kangkong in the absence of pechay, onion, red bell pepper ( I couldn't find siling labuyo) and the secret to make it maasim or sour, Knorr sinigang mix that I bought from the oriental store), to complete the priceless taste and lo! I made sinigang na hipon sa sampalok. Sinigang is my specialty at home and will always be a special dish for me.

A trivia..did you know that people think that kangkong is for the poor? This vegie is known for that because it is accessible to everyone. You don't need to buy, you can grow it in your yard or just ask some stems from a neighbor.

baby's booties from granny

THe mother-in-law stopped over today to hand me these pairs of baby booties. Her gestures only show excitement and lonesome for a new baby in the baby. Thanks for everything, Juanita.

Top Ten Flexible Jobs

According to government statistics, these ten careers offer great job flexibility potential:

  1. Medical Transcriptionist
Complex insurance regulations combined with a backlog of patient data mean a surge of jobs for certified medical transcriptionists. Because most doctors' offices outsource this vital step in the health care process, most medical transcriptionists earn $28,000 or more each year working from home.
Medical administration training courses can be completed in just a few months, opening up the potential for a lucrative side job or a highly flexible full-time career.

  2. Financial Manager
Bank branches, stock brokerages, and other financial companies have radically changed the way they do business to appeal to today's active consumers. Earning an
MBA in finance no longer means settling for banker's hours. In fact, companies are actively recruiting financial managers willing to work when customers need them the most. An online degree in finance can qualify you for jobs that frequently pay more than $81,000 per year.

  3. Nurse
According to government analysts, a nursing career is as close to recession-proof as most professionals can get in the next three decades. The nation will rely on
nursing school graduates for everything from rehabilitation to hospice care. Most nurses can choose their own shifts, or work for agencies as flexible contractors. A nursing degree can help you net $52,000 or more per year.

  4. Database Administrator
If you prefer an IT career with a focus on hard data, train for a job as a database administrator. Companies of all kinds need detail-oriented professionals who know SQL, Oracle, and other platforms that keep data organized. A
degree in information technology and an independent certification can qualify you for jobs paying $60,000 or more.

  5. Accountant
Just because you count money doesn't mean you need to do it from nine to five. Not only can you earn an
online accounting degree on your own schedule, you can work with clients in your office or theirs, at times that suit you both. With an online bachelor's degree in accounting and a few years of experience, you can earn a salary of $50,000 or higher every year.

  6. Software Developer
Several years after the "Web 1.0" bubble burst, Silicon Valley is hiring professionals with computer
programming degrees at a brisk pace. This time, instead of lush campuses with free lunches, employers offer perks that job seekers desire: flexible hours, job sharing, and telecommuting. Within a few years of earning your software development degree, you could take home an annual salary of over $74,000 without actually leaving home most days.

  7. Physical Therapist Assistant
As medical technology helps more of us live longer and survive trauma more frequently, demand for physical therapist assistants has grown. At
physical therapist assistant school, students learn skills to assist physical therapists with patient work in the office and at the homes of patients. Earning a physical therapist assistant degree doesn't take very long, and can qualify you for jobs that often pay over $37,000 per year.

  8. Paralegal
While industry analysts note the shrinking job market for new attorneys, the number of paralegals finding full-time work continues to rise. Most
paralegal schools allow students to attend classes part-time, while building skills that can help graduates land flexible jobs that pay over $39,000 per year. Online paralegal degrees offer even more flexibility for students who crave a law career without earning a Juris Doctorate.
  9. Graphic Designer
Thanks to new technology, a degree in digital graphic design opens doors to flexible jobs in a variety of specialties. Whether you work part-time at an advertising agency or run a freelance graphic design practice, you can join the ranks of creative professionals who often earn over $38,000 per year. Many
graphic design degrees now include business management and marketing training electives to help graduates build flexible, creative careers.

  10. Private Investigator
Although many private investigators work part-time hours, most detectives-for-hire earn over $32,000 per year. An
online criminal justice degree can help you understand how to conduct effective private investigations without breaking the law or tampering with evidence.

Finding Flexibility
While many companies are starting to explore the idea of job flexibility,
finding a career path where work/life balance is the norm and not the exception is a great first step toward your long term professional satisfaction. Joe Taylor Jr.

Nice matters award!

It feels so great to receive an award. For me, it's an indication that my blog is appreciated in some way. I'm thanking Avee for this.

This is the third recognition I have for almost three months of blogging. Yes! I'm new to this blogging world but feels like not because of the nice people I meet everyday.

Now, sharing this award to Thira and Twerlyn is the best thing to do. I met Thira thru bloghopping, a very nice lady. Twelyn is my longtime netpal and we both lived in General Santos but haven't seen each other in person . Looking forward in hanging out with her in the future (para librehon ko nya).

  5. My valentine - Jamie Rivera. Another inspirational diva for me.

fall back : time to reset our clocks

It's gonna be the American first to reset the clocks in November instead of October. The time of day is "falling back" an hour this weekend meaning, we can get an extra hour of sleep.

The change officially takes place at 2 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, but most Americans tend to turn clocks back an hour before going to bed Saturday night. The time switch marks the end to daylight-saving time, which started way back on the second Sunday of March. This year marks a slight shift in routine instead of dropping daylight-saving time during the last weekend in October, the changeover occurs on the first weekend in November.

The idea behind daylight-saving time — or summer time, as it's known in other parts of the world — is to use the extended daylight hours during the warmest part of the year to best advantage. Timekeepers shift some of that extra sun time from the early morning (when timekeepers need their shut-eye) to the evening (when they play softball).

The shift reduces the need for lighting during the evening, and that's why daylight-saving time is considered an energy-saver — that is, as long as there is morning sunlight to spare. Now that the days are shorter, the daylight-saving advantage has largely dissipated. With the clocks turned back, it will be lighter (or at least less dark) in the morning, but darkness will fall earlier in the evening.

Not everybody goes along with the daylight-saving plan. Arizona and Hawaii, for example, stay on standard time all year round. Each state or country comes up with its own schedule for the switch, and that schedule may be subject to change.
Around the world, Canada and the members of the European Union operate similar summer-time shifts. And yes, some countries in the Southern Hemisphere move their clocks forward an hour at this time of year, in time for the coming summer there.

May hihigit pa ba sa isang katulad mo
Inang mapagmahal na totoo
Lahat nang buti ay naroon sa puso
Buhay man ay handang ialay mo

Lahat ibibigay lahat gagawin mo
Ganyan lagi ikaw sa anak mo
Lahat nang buti nya ang laging hangad mo
Patawad ay lagi sa puso mo....

Walang inang matitiis ang isang anak
Ika'y dakila at higit ka sa lahat
Ang awit na ito
